About this app
Clear the suspended ticket queue with rules you can test first, and keep a record of every email you recovered or deleted. Spam waves, out-of-office replies, mail loops from your own support address and real customers caught by the spam filter all land in one queue. Winnowell sorts that queue with your rules, shows you exactly what each rule will do before anything changes, then recovers and deletes in safe batches and writes down what happened, inside Zendesk.
Winnowell is built by Great Work LLC. It is not made or endorsed by Zendesk.
Rules for the suspended queue
- Match on what matters: sender address or domain, sender name, subject, message text, support address, brand, cause of suspension, hours in the queue, attachments or a pattern.
- Four actions: recover, recover with a requester, delete, or keep for review. Rules run top to bottom and the first match decides, so a "keep" rule for a VIP domain protects it from a broad spam rule below.
- Make a rule from any email in the queue in one click, then see its live matches as you edit.
Dry run first, every time
Every run starts as a dry run: how many will be recovered, deleted, kept or left alone, which rule decided each one, which rules overlap, and the full list of what will be deleted.
- Nothing is deleted without a typed confirmation ("DELETE 214"). Automatic runs never delete.
Works on your whole queue, not one page at a time: thousands of suspended emails in batches of 100.
Recover what Zendesk will not recover on its own
- Mail forwarded from your own inbox is suspended as "Received from support address" and cannot be recovered as is. Recover with a requester finds the original sender in the forwarded "From:" line (or uses an address you set) and recovers it with that person as the requester, in bulk.
Recovered tickets get a tag (and any tags the rule adds) for views, triggers and reports, plus an optional internal note naming the rule.
An audit trail that stays in Zendesk
Each run writes an internal log ticket: the plan, then every suspended email with its sender, subject, cause, rule and outcome, and the new ticket number.
- Stop any time and resume later. Resume picks up the confirmed plan where it stopped and never touches an email twice.
- Rate-limit aware: Winnowell paces its calls and leaves API budget for your team.
Optional automatic recovery
Mark recover rules "Run automatically" and turn on automatic recovery in the settings. While someone with Winnowell has Zendesk open, it runs every 15 minutes (you choose the interval) and logs each pass to a daily log ticket. It only recovers; deletion always waits for a person.
Plans (billed monthly by Zendesk, per Zendesk account)
- Team, $99 per month: up to 100 rules
- Professional, $199 per month: up to 250 rules
- Enterprise, $349 per month: up to 5,000 rules
Every feature is in every plan. 14-day trial; Zendesk asks for a card at install and billing starts when the trial ends unless you uninstall. No free plan.
Needs Zendesk Suite (any plan) or Support Enterprise, because rules are stored as custom object records, and an agent role that can manage suspended tickets.
Your data
Winnowell runs entirely in your browser inside Zendesk. There is no Great Work server, no account to create and no API token to paste. Every call is made as the signed-in agent, with their permissions, to your own Zendesk account. Rules live in a custom object and the audit trail in internal tickets, both in your account. Winnowell keeps no copy of your emails, sends nothing to Great Work or anyone else (not even usage statistics), exports nothing and uses no AI. Details are in the data access section and our privacy policy.

How to install
Install Winnowell from the Zendesk Marketplace and choose a plan. The 14-day trial starts now; Zendesk asks for a card and starts billing when the trial ends unless you uninstall.
- Winnowell needs Zendesk Suite (any plan) or Support Enterprise, because rules are stored as custom object records, and is used by admins or agents whose role can manage suspended tickets. Under Role restrictions, limit the app to those roles or groups.
- Optional settings: turn on Automatic recovery and choose the minutes between automatic runs (5 to 240, default 15), change the tag added to recovered tickets (default
winnowell_recovered), and decide whether agents may edit rules (off: admins only). - Click the Winnowell icon in the left navigation bar. Open a suspended email and choose Make a rule from this, or create rules under Rules. Then click Run rules (dry run first), check the lists, type the confirmation if anything will be deleted, and start.
At install Winnowell adds one custom object, "Winnowell rule", which holds your rules. Each run also creates an internal log ticket tagged winnowell_log with the record of what happened. If you uninstall, Zendesk keeps the custom object and its records (an admin can delete it in Admin Center > Objects and rules > Custom objects) and the log tickets stay like any ticket. Recovered tickets keep their tags.
