About this app

Streamkap is a streaming data platform. It moves data from databases and SaaS applications into data warehouses, lakes and other destinations continuously, so analytics run on data that is minutes old instead of a nightly batch.

What the integration does

Streamkap reads your Zendesk Support account through the Zendesk API and streams the resources you choose to the destinations you connect in Streamkap, such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Redshift or S3. Each resource you select becomes its own table in your destination.

  • Tickets, archived ones included, and their metrics, audits, comments, metric events and side conversations
  • Users, user identities, organizations and memberships
  • Groups, brands, satisfaction ratings, audit logs, and your Support configuration: fields, forms, custom statuses, macros, automations, triggers, views, custom roles, SLA policies, schedules and tags

Changed tickets, users and organizations are read every 5 minutes and configuration every hour; deleted tickets and users are propagated as deletes.

Privacy and data use

Access. A Zendesk admin connects through Streamkap's OAuth client with the read-only read scope. Streamkap never creates, changes or deletes anything in Zendesk.

Data accessed. Only the resources you select from the list above, plus the deleted-tickets and deleted-users lists used to propagate deletes. These can include personal data your Zendesk account holds: names, email addresses, phone numbers and other identities of users, and the content of tickets and comments.

Use. The data is used only to deliver it to the destinations you configure in your Streamkap workspace.

Storage. Streamkap stores your Zendesk subdomain and the OAuth refresh token, encrypted, which Zendesk replaces about every two days. Synced records pass through Kafka topics in your Streamkap workspace, retained for your service's retention period (typically 7 days), before they reach your destination, which you control.

Revoking access. Delete the source in Streamkap, or revoke Streamkap in Zendesk Admin Center under Apps and integrations > APIs > External OAuth clients.

How to install

You need a Streamkap account and a Zendesk admin login. There is nothing to install in Zendesk.

Full setup guide, resources and troubleshooting: https://docs.streamkap.com/zendesk-source

  1. In Streamkap, open Sources, click Add and choose Zendesk.
  2. Enter a name for the source and your Zendesk subdomain: the acme in acme.zendesk.com.
  3. Click Connect with Zendesk. In the Zendesk window, sign in as a Zendesk admin and approve read access for Streamkap. The form then shows Connected.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Choose the resources to sync, or click Add a preset to add a typical set. Click Test access to check that each one is readable, then choose All historical data or a Specific start date for the backfill.
  6. Review the summary and click Create.
  7. Use Send to destination to deliver the Zendesk topics to your data warehouse or other destination.

Streamkap first backfills each resource, then keeps it up to date.

Revoking access

  1. In Zendesk Admin Center, click Apps and integrations in the sidebar, then select APIs > External OAuth clients.
  2. Find Streamkap, click the options menu next to it and select View token.
  3. Delete the tokens. The Streamkap source stops until it is reconnected.

Deleting the source in Streamkap also stops all access.
