About this app
Make ticket fields easier to control
TCYM builds small, focused tools for support teams. FieldRule Compass gives Zendesk administrators a visual way to control ticket fields without memorizing field IDs or maintaining JSON settings.
Create readable rules such as:
When Ticket Form is Refund Request and Group is Billing
Make Refund Reason required
Hide Internal Cost
Make Engineering Notes read-only
FieldRule Compass also supports hiding or showing individual dropdown and tagger options when Zendesk exposes those options through the Apps Framework. Rules are re-evaluated as the ticket form or assigned group changes, so agents see the controls that match the current context.
Built for clarity
Visual rule builder with field names, form names, group names, and option labels
Conditions for Ticket Form, Assigned Group, and Current Agent Role
Hide, Read-only, Required, and option visibility actions
Required validation that explains which fields are missing before a ticket is saved
Conflict checks that block Hidden + Required and warn on contradictory or duplicate actions
Missing-resource warnings when a field, form, group, or option was removed from Zendesk
FieldRule Compass processes configuration and the current ticket field values needed for validation inside the Zendesk session. It does not send ticket content, comments, requester data, credentials, or other Zendesk data to external servers. Rules are stored in the app's Zendesk installation settings.
FieldRule Compass is a client-side Zendesk Support app and does not create triggers, automations, macros, webhooks, or external integrations.

How to install
Install and configure
Install FieldRule Compass from the Zendesk Marketplace.
Open FieldRule Compass from the Support navigation bar. You must be a Zendesk administrator to create or edit rules.
- Click New rule, give it a name, and add one or more conditions. All conditions must match.
- Add field actions by selecting a field name and choosing Hidden, Read-only, Required, Hide option, or Show option.
- Review the rule preview and any conflict checks or missing-resource warnings, then click Save rule. Hidden + Required conflicts cannot be saved.
Open a ticket. FieldRule Compass applies matching controls in the ticket sidebar and re-evaluates when the ticket form or assigned group changes.
Notes
Required is a save-time validation in the agent interface; it does not change the Zendesk ticket field schema. Option visibility is available for field types exposed by the Zendesk Apps Framework. If an administrator deletes a resource used by a rule, FieldRule Compass keeps the rule but marks the resource as missing so it can be repaired.
