Businesses live by the rule that the customer is always right. There are exceptions, of course. The Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reported that on Nov. 29, just as the season of peace on earth and good will toward men was getting under way, a 37-year-old woman pushed a 100-year-old (yes, 100) Wal-Mart greeter. What had the greeter, Lois Speelman, done to incite the shove? Her job. Speelman--who started working at Wal-Mart when she was 90, retired at 95 and then returned to work after her only living son died--was checking the customer's receipt to make sure that the customer had paid for the items she was leaving the Milwaukee store with. Sometimes businesses have to say that the customer is always right through gritted teeth. This time, the customer not only wasn't right, she was very, very wrong.
